SUFFIELD, CT — Police are warning residents that a game involving Suffield High School seniors is now underway in town.
The Suffield Police Department said in a social media post Tuesday that the annual game known as “Senior Assassins” began April 20, 2026, and will continue until there is a winner.
Police said the game involves members of the Suffield High School Class of 2026 and is not supported by either Suffield Public Schools or the police department.
The game typically involves students using squirt guns or other water-spraying devices to “eliminate” other players in what police described as a tag-style game with water. While intended as harmless fun, police said it can sometimes create safety concerns or lead to misunderstandings in the community.
As a result, residents may see people running, hiding or using water toys in public or private areas as part of the game.
Police urged student participants to avoid trespassing on private property, entering schools, businesses or other restricted areas, running into roadways, or creating traffic hazards. The department also said students should not use anything that resembles a real firearm or weapon, should not wear masks or clothing that could cause alarm or conceal identity, and should not engage in reckless behavior while driving or on foot.
Police also said participants should not involve people who are not taking part in the game.
Parents, meanwhile, are being encouraged to speak with their seniors about making safe and responsible decisions while participating.
The department said officers will not intervene in the game itself. But police said any violations of the law, unsafe actions or public complaints will be addressed accordingly.
Police asked residents to contact Suffield police if they see anything alarming, while also keeping in mind that the game is taking place in town.
