SUFFIELD, CT — Babb’s Beach will stay open later this week as Suffield residents look for relief from the heat.
Suffield Parks & Recreation announced that Babb’s Beach will be open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, through Sunday, July 5, weather permitting.
Normal beach hours run until 6 p.m., according to the department. The extended hours are for parking only, and officials said no lifeguard will be on duty.
The parking fee is $20 per vehicle, but the fee is waived for Suffield residents, according to the town notice.
Babb’s Beach is located at 435 Babbs Road in West Suffield, along Middle Pond of the Congamond Lakes. The town-owned recreation area is one of Suffield’s better-known summer spots and includes a long local history tied to the former Babb’s Beach Amusement Park.
The town’s posted summer fee schedule lists no charge for Suffield residents and a $20-per-car fee for nonresidents, up to six people. Suffield residents need a park sticker to access the beach at no charge, according to the town.
Residents can find more information through Suffield Parks & Recreation.
