SUFFIELD, CT — Suffield police officers may be wearing a special patch this month in honor of America’s 250th anniversary.
The Suffield Police Union is selling limited-edition 250th USA commemorative patches, with all proceeds benefiting the Dustin Doyon Memorial Scholarship Fund, according to a Suffield Police Department post.
The patches cost $10 each and are available for purchase in person at the Suffield Police Department while supplies last. Sales began July 5 at 4 p.m., police said.
The scholarship fund supports high school students planning to attend the military, trade school or college, according to the Dustin Doyon Memorial Road Race website. Doyon, a Suffield native and U.S. Navy sailor, died in 2017 following the USS John McCain collision near Singapore.
