SUFFIELD, CT — A very large downed tree closed Suffield Street between Austin and Mather streets Monday as heavy rain moved through town, police said.
Suffield police also reported water in low-lying roadways, including Taintor and Hale streets near Christian Fields.
Drivers were urged to avoid deep standing water and use caution, as hydroplaning can cause vehicles to lose control. No reopening time was provided for Suffield Street.
The National Weather Service's Suffield-area forecast called for showers and possible thunderstorms Monday, with locally higher rainfall possible during storms.
