SUFFIELD, CT — A new arcade filled with pinball machines, classic games and modern consoles is moving closer to opening in Suffield.
Hometown Arcade is seeking town approval for signs at its planned location at 136 Mountain Road. The request includes a sign above the entrance, an addition to the plaza directory and a replacement walkway sign, according to a Design Review Board agenda.
The board is scheduled to consider the application during a special meeting Tuesday afternoon.
The family-friendly arcade plans to offer classic and modern arcade games, pinball machines, Skeeball, bubble hockey, air hockey, arcade basketball and gaming consoles.
The company operates arcades in Norwood and Northampton, Massachusetts, and Bloomfield, New Jersey. The Suffield location will be its first in Connecticut.
Renovations began earlier this year, and the business had been aiming for a September opening, according to industry reporting. An exact opening date has not been announced.
The company's other locations use a free-play model that allows customers to pay one admission price instead of feeding money into individual machines. Hometown Arcade also offers birthday parties and private events, though prices and hours for the Suffield location have not been posted.
Additional information and opening updates are available through the Hometown Arcade Suffield website.
