Members of the Parks and Recreation Bowling Buddies group got glammed up and hit the town for the annual Prom on Monday, June 10. The highly anticipated and well attended community dance and prom put on by the 2nd Baptist Church volunteers was a hit. The group first met at the Parks and Recreation Department’s activity room where we played games, listened to music and had dinner for Subway. After the pre-party celebrations, the group loaded in the van and headed off to the 2nd Baptist Church for the March Fellowship Night. This is a fantastic collaboration with 2nd Baptist Church volunteers-led by Jean Aldrich- Jones, Tina Berrien, Gail Davis, Trish Jackson, Scott Miller, Derek Burnaford, Laura Vindigni, Scott Sylvia, Lee, Tatum and Rosie LaRochelle and The Parks and Recreation Department.

As we entered the incredibly decorated 2nd Baptist Church activity room, great tunes were being spun by volunteer DJ Scott Sylvia. The music got everyone in the party mood as we came in. Next, the group was escorted to receive their beautifully designed corsages and boutonnieres and then led to the balloon photo archway. Everyone enjoyed getting their prom photo taken and then what seemed like magic several 8X10 printed color photos with Prom 2019 were given out to each participant and even a group shot! There was no detail spared and all of the volunteers ensured a memorable night for the group.
Around forty-five participants enjoyed dancing, singing, friendships and delicious refreshments. The Fellowship nights hosted by the church and volunteers are a blast and are held on the second Monday of every month from September-June. It is a night filled with fun, which is non-denominational and welcomes everyone. It is a terrific collaboration that members of the Parks and Recreation Bowling Buddies Group thoroughly enjoys attending. The smiles, good times had and camaraderie from the group bring true joy and happiness that everyone seems to be searching for.
