Campus Notes - Suffield College Students

SUFFIELD, CT — Here are some recent notable accomplishments by local college students, as provided by readMedia Newswire.

Emmanuel College, Boston MA

• During the week of March 5th, Colleen McAnaney of Suffield, along with 14 other Emmanuel College students, participated in the Boston-based college's annual Alternative Spring Break (ASB) trip to New Orleans, Louisiana. ASB is a week-long, faith-based service trip held during the College's traditional spring break that bridges volunteer work with education and reflection on larger social issues.

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy NY

• Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) student-athlete Austin Rupp of Suffield was named Performer of the Week in men's golf. Rupp, a graduate of Suffield High School, earned his second weekly award of the year after he birdied the first playoff hole to earn medalist at the NYU Invitational at the Forest Hill Field Club over the weekend. He and NYU's Robbie Keyes both shot 73-74 - 147 (+5) to force extra holes to determine the winner. Rupp claimed the title with a birdie on the first playoff hole, while Keyes had a par. Both players started the day tied for third place, but moved into the lead, two strokes in front of two others who had two-day totals of 149. Rensselaer finished second in the 13-school event, which featured 67 student-athletes.
