Blizzard Warning In Suffield: Police Urge Residents To Stay Off Roads
More than 90 percent of flights at Bradley International Airport were proactively canceled Monday.
SUFFIELD, CT — The Suffield Police Department is urging residents to stay off town roads as a powerful blizzard continues to batter the Northeast, creating dangerous travel conditions.
Officials said high winds and drifting snow have left roads extremely slippery, despite Department of Public Works crews plowing throughout the night. Temperatures remain below freezing, with wind chills adding to the hazard.

The conditions in Suffield are part of a larger nor’easter impacting much of the Northeast. Forecasts call for 1 to 2 feet of snow in parts of New England and surrounding states, with whiteout conditions reported in multiple areas.

Amid the worsening conditions, Gov. Ned Lamont declared a state of emergency in Connecticut, activating additional state resources to support storm response and recovery efforts.
The storm has also triggered widespread power outages across the region. According to Eversource, tens of thousands of customers across its multistate service territory have lost electricity due to heavy snow and strong winds.

Meanwhile, Bradley International Airport remains open, with snow removal operations actively underway. Airport officials said more than 90 percent of Monday’s flights were proactively canceled, though some arrivals are scheduled for later tonight. Travelers are advised to check directly with their airline for the most up-to-date information.
Police are asking residents to remain indoors and limit travel to emergencies only until conditions improve.
