Off-Duty Officer Aids in Capturing Larceny Suspects

Suffield, CT - An alert off-duty police officer helped bring a pair of larceny suspects into custody Tuesday.

Officer Thomas Kieselback, while off duty, observed a suspicious female in CVS Pharmacy that appeared to be in the process of shoplifting several items. He made several additional observations of a vehicle in the parking lot and contacted police dispatch as she ran from the store and entered the vehicle that had been waiting, police said.

Responding officers were able to stop the vehicle a short distance away, and determined the couple was in possession of $437.79 in electric toothbrushes.

Lyrisa Whitehurst, 27, of 11 Maplewood Terrace, Springfield, Mass., was charged with sixth-degree larceny. Robert Whitehurst, 34, of the same address, was charged with conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny.
