Edward Bunnell, 81; U.S. Army Veteran, Retired Executive and Suffield Resident

Edward Bunnell, 81, of Suffield, CT , died peacefully on December 19, 2014.

He was born on August 12, 1933 to Clarence and Lila (Bradley) in Winsted , CT.

He was the loving husband of Judith (Mulvaney) for 57 years. He was predeceased by his parents, brother, Ralph, and sister, Clare.

He is survived by his wife Judith, son Alan and his daughter Kimberly; son Keith and his wife Ann, their sons Nicholas, Mark, and Noah; and son Glen and his wife Alicia, their son Thomas, and daughter Caroline.

He graduated from the Gilbert School of Winsted , CT in 1951, where he played baseball. He enlisted in the US Army, serving his country in the 11th Airborne Division, Pathfinder Platoon, as a paratrooper, until 1954, reaching the rank of Sergeant.

He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mining Engineering from the University of Arizona in 1959. He worked for US Gypsum in Plaster City, CA, and Empire, NV, Monsanto in Springfield, MA, and Tubed Products of Easthampton, MA, a division of McCormick, retiring as VP of Operations in 1995.

Ed loved to travel and spend time with his loving family and many friends with whom he shared endless laughs and happy times. He also enjoyed the time he spent with the “Retired Men’s Club” in Suffield. He was an active member of the First Church of Christ, Congregational in Suffield, CT.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 27, 2014, 1 PM, at First Church of Christ Congregational, Suffield, 81 High St., Suffield. Burial with military honors will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Suffield. A reception will be held back at the church where all are invited.
