Bridge Jumper Dies at Hospital: UPDATED
A female jumped off the Enfield/Suffield Bridge into the Connecticut River Monday afternoon.

ENFIELD, CT — A female who jumped off the Enfield/Suffield Bridge Monday afternoon has died, police confirmed.
Rescue personnel searched the Connecticut River for the female, who jumped off the bridge s police officers were arriving after receiving several 9-1-1 calls.
At 3 p.m., personnel in a Hovercraft reported via emergency radio the woman was "in the center of the river just south of a ridge of ice."

The Warehouse Point Fire Department was requested to launch their craft at 3:05 p.m., but moments later, the Hovercraft reported the victim was "rescued and on board."
Emergency responders reported via radio that "CPR is in progress" at 3:12 p.m., noting the woman had been under water for 3 to 5 minutes.

She was transported to Hartford Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, Lt. Mark Squires said.
