Author Talk with Sr. Judith Kappenman

Join author Sr. Judith Kappenman to discuss her book, To Dakota and Back: The Story of an Orphan Train Rider. Sr. Judith Kappenman made a promise to her late mother that she would tell the story of her grandfather's journey on the "orphan train" that shipped immigrant children across the country to new homes. To Dakota and Back, The Story of an Orphan Train Rider tells the fictionalized story of John Donahue, who was put on the train as a child and worked on a farm in the Dakota Territory as an indentured servant until he turned 21.

Sr. Judith Kappenman serves as the director of the Irish Cultural Center at the Elms College in Chicopee. Books will be available for purchase and signing at this event. Please register for this event online or by calling the library's information desk at 413-789-1550 ext. 109.
