Harry N. Sanderson Sr., 92; Suffield Resident Who Was a World War II Army Veteran, Retired Sheetmetal Worker

Harry N. Sanderson Sr., 92, of Suffield, CT loving husband of 61 years to the late Arlene (Fellows) Sanderson entered into Eternal Rest on Wednesday, April 29, 2015, the seventieth anniversary of the liberation of Dachau in which he was part of (April 29, 1945).

Harry was born March 12, 1923, in Rockingham, VT and raised in Brattleboro VT where he met his wife.

Harry proudly served in the United States Army during World War II and served with the 42nd Infantry Division. He was assigned a Browning automatic rifle and saw battle in the southern portion of the Battle of the Bulge.

Harry was employed with the Sheet Metal Workers Local 40 for over 40 years. He was a faithful member of the Congregational Church of Windsor Locks. Harry was an avid fan of UCONN Womens’s Basketball and the New England Patriots. Harry was a founding member of the Brattleboro VFW. He enjoyed hunting and spending time with his son and his many friends at Old Orchard Beach in Maine.

He is survived by his son, Attorney Harry N. Sanderson, Jr. of Suffield.

Harry was predeceased by his son Paul O. Sanderson.

Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family on Sunday, May 3, 2015, from 4 pm to 6 pm at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks. A funeral service for Harry will be celebrated on Monday, May 4, 2015, at 10 am at the Congregational Church of Windsor Locks, 8 Main St., Windsor Locks.

Please meet at the church. Burial will follow in Grove Cemetery with military honors.
