High and Low Fuel Prices for Aug. 4

Connecticut residents are paying $4.06 per gallon of gas on average today, 31 cents more than the national per-gallon average of $3.70. Connecticut is the second highest priced state in the nation, with only Hawaii with an average of $4.15 being more expensive.
The national per-gallon average is down 1 cent from Tuesday, Aug. 2, and the state average rose 3 cents in the same period, according to AAA. Connecticut gas prices peaked in 2011 on May 1, when they averaged $4.27 per gallon. The highest recorded average per-gallon price for Connecticut was $4.39 on July 9, 2008.
An average gallon of gas in Connecticut was priced at approximately $3.30 on Jan. 1 or 75 cents less than the current average price.
