Incumbent Suffield State Rep. Zawistowski Receives Business Association Endorsement

Local businesswoman Tami Zawistowski is seeking her first full term representing Suffield, East Granby and Windsor in the 61st District.

Press release.

The state’s largest business advocacy organization this week announced its endorsement of local business owner Tami Zawistowski’s campaign to serve her first full term representing the 61st General Assembly District

The Connecticut Business & Industry Association made its endorsements after surveying candidates and incumbents throughout the state about their priorities for the 2014 legislative session. Zawistowski began service to the residents of Suffield, East Granby and Windsor in April through a special election. Zawistowski’s focus has been on getting the state’s finances back in order, job growth and making certain educational programs in Connecticut provide students with the skills to succeed in a challenging and ever-changing economic landscape.

“The critical effort to get Connecticut working again begins with creating a stable, welcoming environment for the very people we need to lead the charge—business owners,” said Zawistowski, who owns a rare books business. “I’m honored that this organization that fights for Connecticut businesses views me as a person who can contribute to the job of improving our state’s economy.”

During the 2014 legislative session Zawistowski was an advocate for job training and placement programs—in particular, those to give workers of all ages the skills required by precision manufacturing firms. She also supported an effort to give employers a break on the special unemployment compensation assessment they must pay to cover the state fund that ran dry.

Recently, Zawistowski also secured the endorsement of the National Federation of Independent Businesses—the state and nation’s leading small business association.
