Louis W. Provost Sr., 93; World War II Army Veteran; Founder of LW Provost Landscaping

Louis W. Provost Sr., 93, of West Suffield and Stuart, FL passed away peacefully at Treasure Coast Hospice House, Wednesday, April 22. 2015, with Janice, his wife of 60 years, and his children, by his side.
Lou was born in Hartford, November 5, 1921 and spent most of his life in Windsor where he was a star athlete and graduate of John Fitch High School.

A proud veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in the European Theatre and fought in the Battle of the Bulge during World War II.
After the war, he started LW Provost Landscaping and enjoyed the work he did in his hometown throughout his career. Lou was an avid sports enthusiast, excelling in golf, pool, ping pong, and bowling. He was a dedicated fan of his favorite teams, having a passion for Notre Dame football and UConn basketball.

He coached little league baseball, was a Club Champion in golf at Suffield Country Club, and even made a hole in one. Lou’s love of sports passed through his family from generation to generation. He was a joy to be around and received much pleasure in making his many friends and family laugh with his jokes and stories.
He served on the Town of Windsor’s Zoning Board of Appeals and was a long time member of the Windsor Kiwanis Club.
Lou is survived by his loving wife Janice (Schofield) Provost; his adored children, Patricia Neville and her husband Richard, Susan Grezel and her husband Flick, Lou Jr., and Lauren Life and her husband Larry.
He was predeceased by his son Larry and brother John.
Lou was the treasured grandfather of Christine, Colleen, Meghan, Amber, Aasha, Autumn, Micah, Louie III, Jon, Dennis, Robert, Lindsay, Leah, and Larry Jr. He was also blessed to have 10 great grandchildren. He leaves behind his beloved sisters in law, Karen Dillon and Beverly Schofield, his devoted brother-in-law Jonathan Schofield plus numerous cherished nieces and nephews.
His family will receive friends Saturday, May 2, 2015, from 10 am to 11:30 am at the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Avenue, Windsor followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Noon at St. Gabriel Church, 379 Broad Street, Windsor. Burial with military honors will follow in Windsor Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
