Making Food and Snack Making Fun and Nutritious for Children!
The Suffield Parks and Recreation Department's collaboration with ShopRite of Enfield brought "Fun With Food" to children in grades 1-5.
The Suffield Parks and Recreation Department's collaboration with the ShopRite of Enfield and
Registered Dietician-Michelle Mattia brought making fun and healthy snacks to our after-school program at McAlister School for children in grades 1-5. With a loaded grocery cart filled with delicious and nutritious recipes, Instructor Mattia made a variety of creative recipes with the children. There were many smiles at our new “Fun with Food” program where the happy participants made Banana, Nut butter and Tortilla Sushi, Veggie Noodle Salad and Avocado Chocolate Mousse. The children also had a blast also while learning to use chopsticks while enjoying all the yummy treats. It is a great interactive class when the children roll up their sleeves and learn hands on about eating healthy and how to make these incredible recipes. This program was made possible by the generosity of ShopRite in Enfield, and a partnership with the Parks and Recreation Department.
