Man Has Tirade Over Bedpan After Police Chase in Suffield: Cops
A man was arrested on new state police charges in a case that began in Suffield, according to a Warrant

STAFFORD, CT — A man who was sent to Johnson Memorial Hospital after a wild police scene in Suffield in the fall subsequently went berserk over a bedpan and is facing new assault charges, according to a state police arrest warrant.
The incident took place on Oct. 24 and Michael Wilkinson, 43, of Granby, was charged with assault on a public safety officer and breach of peace on Saturday, according to an arrest report. A warrant had been issued for his arrest, state police said.
He posted a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 14, a warrant indicates.
At 2:29 p.m. on Oct. 24, State police received a report about a man assaulting nurses and emergency room staffers at Johnson Memorial Hospital, according to a warrant.

Wilkinson was arrested for domestic charges that involved a pursuit in Suffield, but police sent him to the hospital because, during the booking process, he tried to "rip his own throat out."
Once at the hospital, Wilkinson refused to use a bedpan and broke loose from his restraints, according to a warrant. He began swearing and flailing around the bed and was swinging at nurses and staff," according to a warrant. One staffer was hit on the face and another had a finger injury, according to a warrant.

He was medicated as a safety precaution to himself and the staff and placed back in restraints, a warrant indicates.
He had been living in Suffield at the time of the domestic incident, but now lives in Granby, according to state police records.
