Man Killed by Suffield Police Officer Identified

The man was shot during an interaction with police, according to a state police spokesperson.

SUFFIELD, CT — A Massachusetts man has been identified by state police as the person shot and killed by a Suffield police officer Thursday afternoon.

Thomas Gezotis, 57, of West Springfield, was a passenger in a taxicab which was stopped on Route 159 around 12:30 p.m. An interaction occurred between Gezotis and police, resulting in an officer firing at least one round, striking and killing Gezotis, police said.

State police detectives from the Central District Major Crime unit continue to investigate the shooting.
