Missing Suffield Man Found Safe: UPDATED

Police had issued a Silver Alert Wednesday for a 50-year-old man, but he was found safe Thursday morning.

SUFFIELD, CT — Police have canceled a Silver Alert that had been issued for a 50-year man reported missing Wednesday out of Suffield.

Matthew Monette had last been seen Wednesday morning, but thanks to some tips from citizens who saw him, he was found by Suffield Police Canine Officer Peter Osowiecki and his dog Taz walking on East Street North Thursday morning.

"It is certain that the reporting coverage and social media coverage by our media partners played a significant role in getting Matthew reunited with his family.," Capt. Christopher McKee said.

SUFFIELD, CT — Police have issued a Silver Alert for a man reported missing out of Suffield Wednesday.

Matthew Monette, 50, is described as a white male, standing 5-foot-6, weighing 250 lbs., with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing sneakers, a gray shirt, gray shorts and an Army hat.

According to Suffield police, Matthew has special needs and memory issues, as well as other medical complications. He was last seen when he and his vehicle were dropped off at Gale Toyota in Enfield around 7:15 a.m. Wednesday.

He does not have a cell phone on him, he did not show up for his scheduled shift at work Wednesday, and friends and family have not heard from him.
