Parking, Attendance Guidelines Issued for Suffield Teen's Funeral

A large crowd is anticipated for the calling hours and funeral of a 17-year-old Suffield girl who was killed last week.

SUFFIELD, CT — Calling hours and funeral services for a local teenager who was struck and killed on Interstate 91 last week are expected to cause traffic congestion on Suffield's busiest road during Friday's afternoon and commute hours.

Police are anticipating lengthy traffic delays and traffic congestion on both Mountain Road, or Route 168, and Sheldon Street in the area of Suffield High School Friday. Police highly encourage motorists to avoid these areas and plan ahead to use alternate routes during these hours.

Public calling hours to remember and honor the life of Suffield High School student Brianna Mailloux are being held from 4 to 7 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, located at 1240 Mountain Road. Shuttle buses will be transporting attendees from the high school to the funeral home.

Members of the public who plan on attending the calling hours are strongly encouraged to use the shuttle buses, which will run continually from the high school to the funeral home from 4 p.m. to the end of the calling hours, police said.

Parking at Heritage Funeral Home is very limited and can accommodate approximately 60 vehicles. There is no additional parking in the area of the funeral home, either on the street or in any nearby location. Rather than risk being turned away by police when that lot is full, visitors are asked to park at the high school and utilize this free shuttle bus service, police said.
