As Practice Opens, a Look at Suffield Fall State Championships

SUFFIELD, CT — Thursday marks the official opening of practice for fall high school sports, and the first day gives every team hope and optimism that perhaps a state championship is in the cards.

A total of 17 Suffield teams have captured state titles in fall sports in the past:

• boys soccer (9): 2013 (M), 2012 (M), 2011 (M), 2006 (M), 1991 (M), 1981 (M), 1978 (M), 1960 (S), 1958 (S)
• girls soccer (6): 2010 (M), 2009 (M), 2006 (M), 2005 (M), 2000 (M), 1998 (S)
• boys cross country (2): 2011 (M), 1998 (SS)
