Get an incredible workout in this fun high intensity step class. Class is designed to help build lean muscle while burning tons of fat all while having a blast. It is a total body cardio and strength workout. Combining step, HIIT, and dumbbells, this ultimate thirty-minute workout will get and help keep you in shape.

Energizing Saturday Morning Vinyasa Yoga Flow and Mindfulness Sampler
This new three week sampler series will be an energizing Vinyasa yoga flow program that will kickstart your morning and inspire you to move through the rest of your day with intention and ease. There will be a strong focus on proper alignment and linking movement to one’s breath to ultimately promote flexibility, increase mobility, build strength, balance and relieve stress. Family and Community (Halloween Weekend Fun!)

Photo Scavenger Hunt & Fun Photo Workshop
Join us for an Exciting, Interactive & Fun New Program!
Suffield Parks and Recreation in partnership with the Trees for Suffield Initiative is offering adult and youth photography workshops that will give you ideas and tips, help you gain confidence, and give you more reasons to get outdoors and start taking pictures.
The workshops, led by Chad Lemmens of Lemmens Creative Design will have you excited to try new things using your camera. After some initial instruction and a photo scavenger hunt, Chad will help you select your best photos and take them to the next level. Want to try aerial photography? Chad will be bringing his drones. Sunrise Park is the perfect location for terrific Fall foliage and it will be an enjoyable workshop for adults and families.
After the workshop, select your best two photos to enter in the Trees for Suffield photo contest. A small snack will also be served to celebrate the Fall and Halloween season.
Contest deadline is November 23, 2022. Photo categories include single tree portraits, multi tree landscapes, and close-ups or abstracts of trees, leaves, bark, etc.
This new workshop is FREE but donations to Trees for Suffield will be kindly appreciated at the program.

Inclusive Recreation Programs

Bowling Buddies Fall Bowling at Spare Time

Enjoy a great evening of bowling and meeting new friends. Get some exercise and have some fun! This program is geared for Middle Schoolers through adults. Please wear comfortable clothes that allow for movement, and wear and bring a facemask and hand sanitizer. We ask everyone to check their temperature before coming to the program and if you have a temperature, over 100 please do not come to the program Please do not come to the program if you are feeling ill or experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19. We encourage all participants to eat and drink either before or after bowling. You should consult your physician or other health care professional before starting this or any other fitness program to determine if it is right for your needs. Everyone must register at www.suffieldrec.com for bowling including volunteers.

Volunteer special partners, coaches and helpers are always needed and also welcome! Many fun activities, event nights and zoom activities are held throughout the year in addition to the bowling program!

Art Together Specialty Workshop (Bowling Buddies and Bowling Buddies Jr and Caregiver) Kandinsky-inspired Compositions (New!)

You will have a terrific evening with the Bowling Buddies and Bowling Buddies Jr. outing group Special Fall Art Workshop with Dinner with Special guest Gayla Berry. We will have pizza and snacks first from 5:00-6:30 p.m. and then we will have our specialty Art Program from 6:30-7:30 p.m. This program is for all ages and abilities and recommended for ages 9 and over. All participants must pre-register.

Kandinsky-inspired Compositions

Making art together fosters a profound sense of well-being, connection, and community. Join us in creating art inspired by Wassily Kandinsky's Squares with Concentric Circles!

We begin with a brief discussion of Kandinsky’s piece, then create our own artwork.

Participants are given step-by-step instructions as a group, with individual support as needed. Everyone is encouraged to try the techniques taught, but also to go beyond and explore their unique artistic style.

In the process of creating their compositions, participants are also

-increasing hand strength and dexterity

-improving hand-eye and bilateral coordination

-developing planning and organizing abilities

-working on problem-solving and decision-making

-honing observation skills

-sharpening visual-spatial skills

-enhancing self-expression through verbal and non-verbal communication

-connecting with other creative individuals

This class involves some painting, a lot of paper cutting, and an abundance of fun!
