Police: Scammers Are Posing As Suffield Officials

Police say the emails demand wire transfers for supposed Planning and Zoning fees that the town never charges this way.

SUFFIELD, CT — The Suffield Police Department is warning residents and businesses about a scam that is specifically targeting the Suffield community and falsely claims to come from the town’s Planning and Zoning Department.

Police said victims may receive fake invoices for so-called “Application Review and Approval Fees.” Authorities stressed the invoices are not legitimate and were not sent by Planning and Zoning.
According to police, the scam emails often appear professional but include several red flags:

The sender’s email address is incorrect, police said. Town of Suffield government email addresses follow specific formats, and residents should verify the sender before engaging.
