SFES Sponsors Sidewalk Chalk Contest
The Suffield Foundation for Excellent Schools is sponsoring a sidewalk chalk contest at McAlister Intermediate School.
Come watch and join in as talented individuals create and color with sidewalk chalk in an event sponsored by the Suffield Foundation for Excellent Schools (SFES) on May 19 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at .
It’s open to all grade levels, including adults. Categories for judging are Kindergarten through second grade, third to fifth grade, sixth through eighth grade and ninth grade through adult. One winner in each category will receive a prize.
Artwork will be judged by internationally syndicated cartoonist and Suffield resident Rick Stromoski. Peggy MacKinnon, another talented and well-known Suffield artist, will also judge the event. Judging will be based on creativity, originality, skill and use of color.

Artists need to supply their own chalk. Additional chalk can be purchased on site. Artists can begin working on their panel at 10 a.m. and must complete their work by noon. A panel is sized as a parking lot space. The awards will be presented at 12:30 p.m.

Decisions of the judges are final. Art must be family-friendly (no nude or lewd artwork, please), No stenciling or political or commercial advertising statements are allowed. Only solid, non-toxic pastels (chalk) may be used. Digital photos/video may be taken and used for publicity purposes.
