Suffield BoE Vacancy Filled By Republican

Suffield school board votes 5-1 for Republican Joshua Barrows to serve on board of education.

SUFFIELD, CT — School board members this week appointed a new member to their ranks, filling a vacancy created by a recent resignation.

The Suffield Board of Education voted 5-1 Tuesday to appoint Republican Joshua Barrows to fill a vacancy created by the recent resignation of Scott Lingenfelter.

Barrow will fill the remainder of Lingenfelter's term, which ends in November 2023.

Board members Terry Antrum, a Republican, Democrat Jamie Drzyzga, Republican Melissa Finnigan, Democrat James Mol and Maureen Sattan of the GOP voted for Barrow's appointment, while school board member Brian Fry, a Democrat, was the lone dissenter.

According to meeting minutes, the school board members thanked Barrows for his interest in the position and indicated they were looking forward to working with him. They also thanked another hopeful for the position.
