Suffield To Dedicate Liberty Tree During America 250 Event
Residents are invited to a ceremony marking the nation's 250th anniversary and the symbolic role of the Liberty Tree in American history.
SUFFIELD, CT — Suffield residents are invited to gather next month for a Liberty Tree Dedication event tied to the nation’s 250th anniversary.
The ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, April 25, at 4 p.m. on the lawn between the Kent Memorial Library and the Veterans’ Memorial Monument. Organizers said the event will be held rain or shine.
The program will honor the Liberty Tree, a symbol of freedom during the American Revolution, and will commemorate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

According to the Trees for Suffield Initiative, the event will include patriotic music by Suffield students, a presentation on the history of the Liberty Tree, and a proclamation from the Town of Suffield that will be read by First Selectman Colin Moll.
Organizers said the event will also include the unveiling of the Liberty Tree marker. The first 25 households attending will receive Scarlet Oak saplings donated by Bartlett Tree Experts.
