Suffield and Enfield Police Team Up to Find Injured Woman
The woman was lost and disoriented in a large wooded area of West Suffield.

SUFFIELD, CT — Police officers from Suffield and a canine unit from neighboring Enfield collaborated Wednesday afternoon to find a disoriented, injured woman who had become lost in a wooded area of West Suffield.
At 4:41 p.m., Suffield police received a 911 call from a 60-year-old woman who was lost in a large wooded area located behind 900 South Grand Street. The woman sounded disoriented, and she communicated that she was beginning to experience medical distress and difficulty breathing, Capt. Christopher McKee said.
Suffield police and Suffield Volunteer Ambulance arrived and promptly began searching for the woman’s vehicle, which she stated was located near a body of water in the wooded area. Police and EMS located the vehicle in that area and began a preliminary search starting at the vehicle, McKee said.

A police canine team from the Enfield Police Department, responding to a broadcast for canine assistance made of surrounding jurisdictions, arrived at 5:12 p.m. Utilizing an off-road “gator-style” vehicle of Suffield EMS and the police canine team tracking the woman’s scent from the vehicle, an extensive collaborative search of the heavily wooded area commenced, McKee said.
About 24 minutes after the search operation began, the female victim was successfully located by the Enfield canine team, consisting of Officer Mike Colantuono and his dog Nova, McKee said.

The woman was provided emergency medical care and moved from the wooded area to a spot where the EMS gator vehicle could then transport the victim by vehicle to a waiting ambulance. She was transported to an area hospital for non-life threatening injuries, McKee said.
