Suffield Foundation For Excellent Schools Looks Forward To Fundraising And Fun
The new board of the Suffield Foundation for Excellent Schools met this month to discuss and plan a year of events, including the March 31 Charity Auction.

The Suffield Foundation for Excellent Schools Board of Directors welcomed six new board members into the fold in September.
John Blake, Eliza Childs, Christoph Hyder and Kim Masi, along with Suffield Patch's own Cami Beiter and Wendy Pierman Mitzel, will now serve two one-year terms of office for the non-profit organization that provides grants and resources for local educational programs.
The Suffield Foundation for Excellent Schools (SFES) board also said goodbye to Jim Zien, John Maleyeff and Michele Nath, whose terms expired this year.

The foundation kicked off the year with its first board meeting and welcome reception on Sept. 1. Members hosted a booth at Suffield on the Green on Sept. 10 and 11 to spread the word about education grants and fundraising opportunities.
Next up on the to-do list is developing a mini-grant program, attending education seminars and preparing for the largest SFES event of the year, the charity auction.
SFES will celebrate 10 years of auctions on March 31, 2012 at the Sheraton Hotel at with a safari theme – "SFES is Wild About Education."
"It’s really appropriate," said Auction Chair Christine Mercadante. "The meaning of safari is 'long journey.' And that’s what SFES has been on for the past 10 years, a journey."
Last year’s fundraising efforts pushed money raised in the previous nine years past the $500,000 mark, Kost said.
SFES was founded in 1988 with a small donation and has grown to be a non-profit organization which provides support for innovative and exceptional educational programs and opportunities beyond the tax-supported budget for the benefit of Suffield students.
