SHS Alumni Receive Places in Hall of Honor

The Suffield Foundation for Excellent Schools honored seven Suffield High School alumni for their accomplishments after graduation.

The students of spent the morning of May 18 listening to what their futures could hold, be it winning awards for screenwriting, producing music or holding a congressional seat.

Seven SHS alumni spoke, sharing their stories during a school assembly at the 2012 Suffield Foundation for Excellent Schools Hall of Honor Induction Ceremony.

The Hall of Honor was established in 2003 to recognize those Suffield High School graduates who have gone on to make a distinguished mark in their respective fields.

This year's recipients are:

  • Charles R. Waterman, Class of 1954, a nuclear power and Business turnaround Expert.
  • Robbi Gorman D’Allessandro, Class of 1981, a writer for stage and screen.
  • Ted W. Beneski, Class of 1974, a financier and philanthropist.
  • Anthony J. (Toby) Moffett Jr., Class of 1962, a congressman and public affairs consultant
  • James Remington, Class of 1992, Lieutenant Commander U.S. Navy LCDR
  • James Chapdelaine, Class of 1972 – Musician/Producer
  • Mary Anne Kelly Zak – “Excellence in Education” Recipient

"These awards are only given once every four years and the decision-making process is very difficult given the number of successful graduates," committee chair Joanne Presser said. "I think you will agree that this year’s honorees are exceptional and well deserving of the honor. Our community should be proud of what these people have accomplished."
