Suffield Luger Completes First Two Olympic Slides
Emily Sweeney of Suffield is competing in her first Winter Olympic Games.

PYEONCHANG, SOUTH KOREA — After her first two slides in the Winter Olympics luge competition, Emily Sweeney of Suffield sits in 15th place with one more day of competition remaining.
Sweeney completed her first run Monday in 46.595 seconds, good for 11th place, 0.350 seconds behind leader Natalie Geisenberger of Germany. On her second slide, she posted just the 23rd best time of all the competitors, 46.960 seconds, for a first-day cumulative total of 1:33.555, a full 1.101 seconds behind Geisenberger.
Competition resumes Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. Korean time (5:30 a.m. on the East Coast), with Sweeney slated to start 15th.
