Suffield Man Dead After Accident
The man's vehicle was hit by another vehicle that was traveling at a high rate of speed, according to police.

A Suffield man died after a motor vehicle accident in town.
An officer noticed two vehicles traveling eastbound on Bridge Street at a high rate of speed after 11 p.m. on Friday night, according to police.
The two vehicles were traveling close together at about 60 mph in a 35 mph zone.

One of the vehicles operated by Colin McFarlane, 18, of Suffield went through a stop sign at the intersection of East Street and collided with a vehicle traveling northbound on East Street that was occupied by William Caruthers, 61, of Suffield, according to police.
Caruthers was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead after arriving.

McFarlane stayed at the scene and is cooperating with police. The other vehicle was not located and hasn’t been identified.
The North Central Municipal Accident Reconstruction Squad is taking over the investigation.
