
Beulah Marie (Spear) Nicholson, 96, lifelong resident of West Suffield, died peacefully on Monday, December 26, 2016 at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford. She was married for 56 years to William (Buster) Nicholson Jr., who died in 2001.
Beulah was the daughter of the late Forrest M. Spear and Mary Ellen (Fahey) Spear of West Suffield. Beulah graduated from Agawam High School and attended Tufts University. She did the bookkeeping and payroll for Nicholson Brothers for 20 years. Beulah had previously worked for Mass Mutual Life Ins. Co. in Springfield; Burroughs Corp. in Boston; R. I. Hospital Bank & Trust Co. in Providence; Miner & Barnett Brokerage in NYC and Silex Corp. in Hartford. She retired from Connecticut General Life Insurance Co. as a Reinsurance Accounting Specialist in 1981.
Beulah and her husband enjoyed their hobby of Harness Horse Racing and were rewarded with many wins and track records. They owned "Lively Anne" The Aged Trotter of the year in 1975.

Beulah leaves her sons, Thomas E. Nicholson of West Suffield, and Robert S. Nicholson and his wife Lin of West Simsbury, and her grandchildren, Douglas, and Joan Nicholson of West Simsbury. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her son William J. Nicholson III, and her brother, Verne Spear.
Funeral services and burial in West Suffield Cemetery will be private at the request of her family.
