Suffield Obituary: Bonney Durocher, 64

Bonney Durocher was chosen on Saturday, June 18, 2016 to take her place in the next life with the other family guardians who have gone on before.

Among her charges she leaves her beloved grandson Isaiah Scott, who lived with her, her daughter Danielle Durocher and granddaughter Taylor Barker, of North Carolina. Also being watched over by her and known to them as "Pokey" are sisters Donna Perry of Enfield, Karen Oliver and husband Mark of East Granby, brother Mark Waterman of West Suffield and their families, Also sisters Wendy Hart of Southwick MA, Holly Szczepanik of Southwick MA, & brother Earl Waterman of Agawam MA and their families. Bonney also spent many happy years with her step children and grandchildren and will continue to watch over them always. Paul Durocher and family of Cohasset MN, David Durocher, of Ft. Smith AR, and Robert Durocher of Fayetteville, NC and their families. She will also be missed by many friends as well. Bonney was preceded in death by her husband Fred Durocher and her sister Heather Waterman.

She was a member of the West Suffield Congregational Church. A strong advocate in the grandparents program in Enfield and was recently featured in a promotional video on their behalf. She was also an active volunteer in the Lunch Bunch Program for many years. She was a great cook and her meatballs and baked stuffed shrimp were legendary. Her apple bake was always the first to go at any function.

Bonney loved the beach or the joy of floating the day away in the pool, a real "sun worshipper". Bonney was always the life of the party and will be remembered for her amazingly quick wit and incredible sense of humor. She could sit for hours on end telling jokes, getting into character, changing her voice and making everyone laugh till they cried. She always did what she was able to do for others less fortunate and was a generous person. If nothing else, she was a true, faithful, and fierce friend. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Her family will receive friends Friday, June 24, 2016 from 5:00-6:30 PM at Nicholson & Carmon Funeral Home, 443 East St. N. (Rt. 159), Suffield, followed by a memorial service at 6:30 PM.
