Suffield Obituary: Celia Polek, 94

Celia M. Polek, 94, of Enfield, widow of Henry Polek (1995), entered into eternal peace on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at the Suffield House.

A daughter of the late Joseph and Sophie (Osinski) Falkowski, Celia was born and raised in Suffield, and had lived in Enfield since 1947. She was well known in the Enfield community operating her Shaker Wagon Vegetable Stand and was fondly named the "Silver Queen Lady." Celia was a parishioner at St. Bernard Church and was a charter member of the Rosary Guild. She was also a member of the former Enfield Homemakers. She loved playing cards especially Canasta and Setback, and she was very talented in the kitchen showing her delicious baking abilities.

She is survived by her five children, Elaine Gustafson of Naples, FL, James Polek and his wife Carmen of Norwalk, OH, Paul Polek and his wife Deborah of Enfield, Marie Dzwonkus and her husband Thomas of Somers, and Mark Polek of Somers; two sisters, Romualda Dzwilewski of Longmeadow, MA, and Eleanor Ragno and her husband Judge Thomas Ragno of Needham, MA; eleven grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. Besides her husband,Celia was predeceased by two brothers, Adolph and Walter Falkowski, and three sisters, Stella Zieminski, Dorothy Hyjek, and Gladys Gminski.

Visitation hours will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd., Enfield. Family and friends will gather Friday April 1, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. at Leete-Stevens for a procession to St. Bernard Church for a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Committal will follow at St. Bernard's Cemetery.

Her family wishes to thank the staff at Suffield House and Suffield By the River for the wonderful care and support they provided to Celia.
