
Dorothy (Sweatland) Hinckley, 91, of Suffield, wife of the late Kenneth Hinckley, died Tuesday, April 17, 2018. She was the daughter of the late Andrew and Annie (Zimmerman) Sweatland.
Dorothy was raised in West Suffield where she became a proud member of the West Suffield Grange. She remained a faithful member for well over 75 years.She married Ken in 1950 and moved to Suffield where they raised their family.
Dorothy is survived by a daughter, Sandy Files and husband Terry of South Windsor, a son Charles Hinckley and wife Laurie of Yuba City, CA and a son Kenneth Jr. and his daughter, Jasmin, of Agawam, MA. She also leaves several step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by a son, Keith Hinckley.

She worked many years for the Suffield Public School system in their food service department. Dorothy received the “Heart of the Program” award from the Food Service Assoc.
She spent her final months at the Bickford Health Care Center in Windsor Locks, where she received excellent care from very competent caregivers that she called “dear”. At the appropriate time, Beacon Hospice service offered extra comfort and care. Dorothy will be remembered for her easy smile and unassuming manner.

Dorothy’s family will receive friends Sunday, April 22, 2018 from 2-4 PM at Nicholson & Carmon Funeral Home, 443 East St. N. (Rt. 159), Suffield. Burial will be in West Suffield Cemetery at the convenience of her family.
