Suffield Obituary: Dorothy Urbanik, 101

Dorothy E. (Grosso) Urbanik, 101, of Suffield and formerly Wethersfield, beloved wife of the late Stanley Urbanik, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 12, 2016.

Born in Hartford on January 24, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Silvester and Mary (Martocci) Grosso. Dorothy worked for 35 years for Travelers Insurance Co. as an adjuster and she was a longtime, faithful communicant of the Church of the Incarnation, Wethersfield. She was a member of the Travelers Women’s Club, the Incarnation Women’s Club, and the Wethersfield Seniors. Dorothy, along with her friends Helen and Lucille were the Modernettes Singers and they sang on the Bob Steele show in Hartford as well as performed in New York. She was much beloved and will be dearly missed by five generations of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Dorothy was predeceased by two brothers, George and Sylvester, and six sisters, Lena, Rose, Jennie, Mary, Annie and Millie. Special thanks to the Staff at Suffield By The River for their care and compassion.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday (May 16) at 11 a.m. at the Church of the Incarnation, 544 Prospect St., Wethersfield. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Family and friends may call prior to the Mass on Monday morning, from 9:15-10:15 a.m., at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield.
