Suffield Obituary: Jean Werick, 100

Condolences to her family and friends.

Jean Werick, 100, of Suffield, beloved wife of the late Jerome (Jerry) F. Werick, passed away Monday, November 16, 2015 at home surrounded by her loving family.

Born August 6, 1915 in Buffalo, NY, daughter of the late J. Joseph and Margaret (Carroll) O’Leary, she grew up and lived in Buffalo until she retired in 1973. She then moved to Ellenton, Florida and then to Suffield, CT in 2003. Jean was an elementary school music teacher in the Buffalo Public School system from 1936-1973. While in Florida she and Jerry made a host of new friends. Jean played the organ for Holy Cross Church in Palmetto. She was presently a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Suffield. Jean loved to travel to visit her children and their families all over the country, and to have them visit her. She was greatly loved by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and never forgot to send each of them a card on their birthday.

She is survived by a son, Kevin P. Werick and his wife Carol of St. Marys, KS; two daughters, Mary K. Makoski and her husband Chester of Suffield, CT, Virginia A. Teller and her husband George of St. George, UT; 11 grandchildren: Aliisa, Jason, Anne, Maria, Joseph, Miriam, Patrick, Mary, Sarah, Daniel and Casey; and 47 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, Robert C. O’Leary; and two sisters, Helen Kelley and Margaret Bulmer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, November 19, 2015, 11 AM, at Sacred Heart Church, 446 Mountain Rd., Suffield. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
