Suffield Obituary: John Kinnear, 83

Condolences to his family and friends.

John "Jack" E. Kinnear, 83, of Suffield, formerly of Enfield, beloved husband of Marianne (Poggi) Kinnear died June 29, 2017.

Born in Jersey City, NJ on June 11, 1934 to the late Allan "Scotty" and Delia (Cox) Kinnear, he spent his early years in Kearney, NJ before moving to Enfield due to his father's employment with Bigelow Carpet. Jack and Marianne met at Enfield High School, graduated in 1953, and after he enlisted and served in the US Army for two years, they were married in 1958.

Jack was a retired Allstate Insurance Agent, a profession which allowed him to do two things that he loved - talk to people and help them when in need. He was a Freemason, a member of the Springfield Shriners and a prior Board and Life Member of The Connecticut River Salmon Association.

Jack was proud of his Scottish roots, and as an avid golfer and fisherman, traveled the world in pursuit of his passions. His many trips to Iceland and Gaspé, Canada fly fishing for Atlantic salmon were his favorites and he gained many friends and gathered many wonderful memories and stories over the years.

In addition to his wife Marianne, of 59 years, Jack is survived by his children: a son, John "Jack" Kinnear and his wife Hyo Sun (Littleton, CO) and a daughter, Jennifer Kinnear and her husband Gabriel Farah (Westwood, MA); his precious granddaughters Brigitte and Lillian Farah, and Natalie and Cassandra Kinnear; his sister Patricia Kelley and her husband Donald (Longmeadow, MA), sister-in-law Margaret Kinnear and many nieces and nephews. Jack was pre-deceased by his brother Allan Kinnear (Marysville, WA).

Visitation for friends and family will be at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapel, 61 South Rd in Enfield on Saturday, July 22, 2017 from noon to 3 pm. A service for Jack will begin at 3 pm. to include a Masonic Service.
