Suffield Obituary: MaryAnn Sloan, 79

Condolences to her family and friends.

MaryAnn (Furey) Sloan, 79, of Enfield, entered into Eternal Life on Monday, May 7, 2018 at The Suffield House, Suffield. She was the beloved wife of 47 years to the late Joseph Sloan, Jr. who passed on March 4, 2018.

MaryAnn was born on March 7, 1939 in Springfield, MA to the late Thomas and Florence (Malley) Furey and was a life long resident of Enfield. She was a graduate of Cathedral H. S. Springfield, MA and then furthered her education at Elms College where she received her Masters Degree in Education.

MaryAnn taught second grade at the Mark Twain School for 11 years, from 1961 to 1972. She was a CCD teacher at St Joseph’s School in Enfield and was very active with her church.

She enjoyed walking, shopping, was a political junkie she loved to watch the news, as well as the Kentucky Derby each year, mostly she loved to spend time with family and morning breakfasts with her husband Joe.

MaryAnn is survived by her daughter Annmarie Sloan of Enfield and her son Thomas Sloan and wife Sherreen of Agawam, MA, along with several other relatives and friends.

Her family will receive relatives and friends on Friday May 11, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, Enfield. Funeral services are to be held on Saturday with the procession forming at 9:30 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Martha’s Church 214 Brainard Rd. Enfield for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be at the convenience of family in St. Patrick’s King St. Cemetery, Enfield.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in her memory may be made to the Epilepsy Foundation of New England, 335 Main St, Wilmington, MA 01887.
