
Shirley Goodwin Oleskewicz, 83, of Suffield, beloved wife of the late Frederick A. Oleskewicz passed away peacefully Thursday, September 29, 2016 at the Suffield House surrounded by her loving family.
Born June 28, 1933 in Hartford, daughter of the late Charles and Amy (Tolx) Goodwin she lived in Bloomfield most of her life where she raised her family, before moving to Suffield ten years ago. She was the 12th generation decedent of the Goodwin family who founded Hartford. Shirley graduated from Simsbury High School with the class of 1951.
She was an excellent seamstress, she made family wedding dresses, Easter dresses, curtains and clothing; Shirley knew her way around the kitchen, not only was she a good cook but a marvelous baker. She enjoyed music, she played the piano and during her later years the organ. She took great pride tending to her flower garden, she loved delphiniums, mums and hydrangeas. Most of all she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She is survived by two sons, Fred A. Oleskewicz, Jr and his wife Joanne of Canton, OH, Robert C. Oleskewicz "Oles" and his wife Donna of Simsbury; three daughters, Betty O. Woods and her husband John of Suffield, Judith L. Gallagher of Suffield, Susan O. Jones and her husband James of Windsor Locks; a sister-in-law, Jean Burtness of Wethersfield; 16 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren.
Family and friends may gather Tuesday, October 4, 2016 from 10-11 AM at First Church of Christ, Congregational, 81 High St., Suffield followed by funeral services at 11:00 AM at the church. Burial will be in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield.
