Suffield Police Investigating Untimely Death

A 70-year-old woman was found unresponsive at a West Suffield home, and was pronounced dead at a hospital, police said.

SUFFIELD, CT — Suffield police are investigating an "untimely death" which occurred Friday afternoon at a South Grand Street home.

Around 1:49 p.m., police responded to 174 South Grand Street Suffield on a report of a medical emergency received via 9-1-1. The initial report was that a woman at that address had fallen down a set of stairs, receiving injury, Capt. Christopher McKee said.

Upon arrival, police officers rendered emergency medical care to a 70-year-old woman found to be unresponsive. The victim was transported by EMS to a local area hospital, but despite emergency medical care efforts, the victim did not survive and was pronounced dead at the hospital, McKee said.

Family members are cooperating with the Suffield Police Department, as an investigation into the circumstances of the incident is conducted. The Connecticut State Police Major Crimes Squad, Central District, is at the scene, McKee said.

Local and state police, in collaboration with the Connecticut Office of the Chief State’s Attorney, are referring to the situation as "an isolated incident that has no public safety concerns for the community at large," McKee said.
