Suffield Police Nab 5 in Statewide Warrant Sweep

Municipal, state, and federal law enforcement agencies from across the state conducted a simultaneous arrest warrant sweep Wednesday.

SUFFIELD, CT — Members of the Suffield Police Department joined municipal, state, and federal law enforcement colleagues from across the state of Connecticut in conducting a simultaneous arrest warrant sweep operation Wednesday. Coordinated by the State of Connecticut Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection, approximately ninety 90 law enforcement agencies began their day at 6 a.m. in teams of officers equipped with arrest warrants to be served.

Suffield police officers, who had previous investigated several new leads on the whereabouts of persons wanted on active arrest warrants, located and arrested five persons for a variety of crimes, including family violence offenses, breach of peace, failure to appear offenses, and animal cruelty, Capt. Christopher McKee said.

In addition, Suffield police developed information that will lead to the closure of a sixth arrest warrant administratively. The efforts Wednesday led to several people who will be surrendering themselves on active arrest warrants to the Suffield Police Department during the upcoming week. In addition, Suffield police will be coordinating further efforts with the State’s Attorney’s Office to obtain extradition for wanted persons found to be residing in surrounding states, McKee said.
