Suffield Police Officer Promoted to Sergeant
He is responsible for the supervision of a patrol shift in the department's Patrol Division.
SUFFIELD, CT — New Police Chief Richard Brown has promoted a member of the Suffield Police Department into a supervisory position to help lead the department.
Effective Oct. 1, Officer Geoffrey Miner was promoted to Sergeant, responsible for the supervision of a patrol shift in the department’s Patrol Division, Capt. Christopher McKee said.
Miner’s promotion was recognized Monday night in a badge-pinning ceremony conducted before family, friends, colleagues, and community members at police headquarters. Miner’s wife, Rachel, pinned his new badge on his uniform, McKee said.

Miner is a lifelong resident of Suffield whose involvement with the department began as a teen, when he served as a youth Police Explorer Cadet throughout his high school years.
Hired as a police officer in 2013, Miner currently serves as a Patrol Supervisor, as well as being instrumental as one of two department coordinators of the Suffield Police social media efforts as part of the department’s community policing philosophy.

He was recently awarded a Community Policing Award by the Connecticut U.S. Attorney's Office during Oct.2016. Miner was one of twenty-two recipients selected statewide to receive recognition for his achievements in promoting community collaboration to improve safety, build public trust and deepen understanding between police and the community, McKee said.
