Suffield Police Release Groundhog From Custody
The state groundhog was charged Feb. 6 with making a false statement after a snowstorm came days after an early spring prediction.

Chuckles, the state groundhog arrested by Suffield police earlier this month for making a false statement, was released from custody Thursday, according to a Facebook post by the Suffield Police Department.
First Selectwoman Melissa Mack was expected to grant Chuckles a full pardon and release her back to the Lutz Children’s Museum, the post said.
Chuckles was arrested Feb. 6 following a winter storm which covered the state in more than six inches of snow only days after Chuckles predicted an early spring.

The Facebook post about the arrest started as a lighthearted joke, but quickly evolved into a unique opportunity to assist the Lutz Children’s Museum, Chuckles’ caretaker, by raising awareness and fundraising for the small nonprofit children’s museum.
Those interested in donating to the museum you can do so in the link below. The money goes to help care for the animals and fund educational programs at the museum.
