Suffield Prevails in Girls Soccer Tournament Opener
A great number of teams from Hartford and Tolland counties were in state tournament action Wednesday.

SUFFIELD, CT — After a two-day delay, the CIAC Class LL and L girls soccer tournaments finally got underway Wednesday, with Suffield, the school at the center of the controversy, and 53 other teams taking the pitch.
State play had been scheduled to begin Monday, but matches in Classes LL and L were postponed just hours before gametime due to discovery of a CIAC error which had placed the Wildcats in Class L, rather than LL.
"The Suffield High School team was incorrectly placed in the Class L tournament when the success in tournament factor used in designating soccer tournament divisions should have placed them in Class LL," the CIAC stated on its web site. "The oversight was discovered [Monday] morning and CIAC notified schools as promptly as possible to re-seed the LL and L tournaments and make the corrections in the seeding and tournament schedules."
