Suffield Road Races Return

SUFFIELD, CT — Runners, walkers and families will gather at Suffield Middle School on Saturday, Sept. 12, when Suffield Parks & Recreation holds its annual road races to kick off Suffield on the Green Weekend.

The event includes the 46th annual 10K Road Race at 9 a.m. and the 22nd annual 5K Road Race at 9:15 a.m. A free Kids Fun Run will be held before the road races, followed by a free walk at 9:30 a.m., according to Suffield Parks & Recreation.

All events will begin at Suffield Middle School, 350 Mountain Road. The races travel through Suffield’s historic Main Street area, farms and residential neighborhoods, according to the town’s official race listing.

More than 1,000 dollars in cash prizes will be available. Fleet Feet of West Hartford is the event’s awards partner, while PeoplesBank is presenting the races. Wilcox Rentals is sponsoring a free bounce house for children during the morning festivities.

The first 200 people to register for the 5K or 10K will receive a free race T-shirt, Parks & Recreation said.

Online registration is available through the Suffield Road Race page. The town is also presenting the event as part of its America 250 celebration.
