Suffield Runners Capture Invitational Team Victories

The Wildcat boys and girls teams each found success at the season's first large invitational meet Saturday.

WINDHAM, CT — Suffield High School took overall team honors in the boys varsity 1 race and the girls team was division champion at the 40th Bob Haddad Windham Invitational cross country meet Saturday at Windham High School.

Led by Kyle Englander's fifth-place performance, the Wildcats placed five runners in the top 17 of the boys race to compile 59 points, 18 better than runner-up Tolland. Other top Wildcat performers were Nathan Davidson (9th), Charles Brydges (13th), Jared Sharp (15th) and Camden Miller (17th).

Among Class S entries, Suffield's 28 points edged Tolland, which had 30.

Suffield's girls placed second overall in the varsity 1 race with 108 points, trailing only Hall's 31. Among teams in the small school division, the Wildcat girls took top honors with 42 points, outdistancing Derby, which had 66.

Emily Bridges was sixth overall to lead the Suffield contingent. Gabby Zeller (8th), Haley Young (13th) and Karissa Stanio (18th) also placed in the top 20.
