SUFFIELD, CT — It's hard to fathom, but less than three weeks remain before the opening of the new school year in Suffield.

Here are six important dates to note on the 2016-17 Suffield Public Schools calendar:

• Aug. 25, 2016 - first practice day for fall sports
• Aug. 31, 2016 - first day of classes for students
• Dec. 26, 2016 through Jan. 2, 2017 - winter break
• Feb. 20-21, 2017 - Presidents Day weekend
• Apr. 10-14, 2017 - April break
• June 9, 2017 - last scheduled day of classes
