Suffield Sports Figure Elected to Hall of Honor
He and six other honorees will be feted at a special ceremony in late October.

SUFFIELD, CT — A sports legend from Suffield will be one of seven honorees in the second class of the Connecticut Association of Schools-Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference Hall of Honor.
Robert “Jiggs” Cecchini has been a vital part of CAS-CIAC in a variety of roles for many years. The former principal at Suffield High School, he has served as the boys basketball tournament director among his many contributions, and has earned numerous honors throughout his career, including induction into the National High School Coaches Association Hall of Fame.

- Katharine “Kit” Bishop, Westbrook
- Al Cramer, Newtown
- Ray Faustich, Trumbull/Ridgefield
- Tom Monahan, Bristol
- Charles Sharos, South Windsor
- Ivan Wood, Plainville
Monahan, Sharos and Wood will be honored posthumously.
The CAS-CIAC Hall of Honor was established to honor individuals who have made significant long-term contributions to CAS-CIAC in one of seven categories: educational leadership, athletic leadership, friend of education, contribution to education, contribution to athletics, service to education, or service to athletics.

The induction will take place Saturday, Oct. 29 at 6 p.m. at the Aqua Turf Club in Southington. Tickets to the event may be purchased here.
